San Benedetto’s Antica Fonte della Salute wins ITQI’s Superior Taste Award

San Benedetto’s luxury mineral water Antica Fonte della Salute has won yet another international award for its incredible taste, clarity and appearance, cementing itself as the flagship of luxury waters within the catering industry. The International Taste and Quality Institute (ITQI) has awarded the Antica fonte della salute the “Superior Taste Award” with three gold stars, the highest available ranking for water available from the ITQI.

The international judging panel, consisting of 135 chefs and sommeliers, recognised by the Michelin and Gaut Millau guides, judged the water on the criteria of first-flavour impressions, visual appearance, odour, taste and after-taste. Receiving exemplary marks across the board, San Benedetto’s premium water continues to lead the field in the premium catering industry.

Available in 750ml, 650ml and 250ml sizes, in both still and sparkling versions, the stylish bottles look at home in both bar and dining environments and on the shelves of boutique shops and the fridges of resort mini bars. Meet the Maldives’ Finalist in the Master of Seasoning Competition

Meet the Maldives’ chef who made it to the final round of Knorr’s Master of Seasoning competition

One talented chef from the Maldives out-seasoned eight others and will join other finalists in pursuit of not only the title ‘Master of Seasoning’, but also a trip to Dubai and Euro 1,000.

Bestbuy Maldives would like to congratulate Ahmed Fatheen from Bandos Maldives on his achievement, gaining a place as one of the finalists in the Master of Seasoning Competition. His winning dish – ‘A Trio of Meats’ delighted the judges and showed innovative and creative use of seasoning.

The competition, launched this year by Unilever Food Solutions (UFS), focused on the chefs creative and innovative use of seasoning to create a mouthwatering chicken dish; they had to use at least one product from the UFS Chicken range.

Ahmed will join the other finalists in the United Arab Emirates for the final round of the competition taking place from 17th till 21st of September!

Masterclass with Chef Willment Leong REVISED DATE

5th Edition Masterclass with Chef Willment Leong – Get tips from the founder of the Thailand Culinary Academy REVISED DATE INFORMATION

The much looked forward to Masterclass by Chef Willment Leong will, due to unavoidable circumstances, be postponed until Saturday 26th August 2017. Chef Willment Leong, Founder Chairman of Thailand Culinary Academy and Chairman of World Chefs without Borders, has informed Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) that he is unable to travel for the Masterclass on its original date in July.

The Masterclass, the fifth event of it’s kind is for participants of the upcoming 2017 Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge who are keen to gain insights from Chef Willment Leong, founder of the Thailand Culinary Academy.

It is BBM’s intention to fulfil the program of events in the way they were planned and give you the much looked forward to Masterclass by Chef Willment Leong; as such, the event has been postponed until the 26th of August 2017. The venue and timings will remain the same:

The Masterclass is to be held on Saturday 26th August 2017, 9.30 am – 4.30 pm, in the Ras Malaan Ballroom at Hulhule Island Hotel, Maldives.

The Masterclass includes:

  • Demonstration of 4 hot main courses
  • Explanation of some of the latest techniques
  • Participation Certificate signed by Chef Willment Leong
  • Lunch with Chef Willment Leong

This event is free of charge for Culinary Challenge participants and will be filled on a first come first served basis. If you or someone in your team would like to join the Masterclass and gain a few tips from the best, please book your place as soon as possible – places are limited and they are filling fast – the registration deadline has been extended to reflect the new date and interested parties now have until 22nd August 2017 to register.
