Heroes welcome for silver medal winners
The three chefs who won last year’s Maldives Hotel Asia Culinary Challenge recently competed at HOFEX 2017, Asia’s leading food and hospitality trade show in Hong Kong. Chef Ahmed Fathheen from Bandos Island Resort and Chefs Indra Kumar Limbu and Ismail Naseer from Hulhule Island Hotel were sponsored to take part by Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) and the Maldives Exhibition and Conference Service (MECS). It was a great opportunity for the chefs to showcase their talents on a global platform.
Chef Ahmed Fathheen and Chef Ismail Naseer both won silver medals in the Western Cuisine – Sustainable Seafood category with dishes using Halibut.
They were joined at HOFEX by award-winning Chef Edwin Leow, who met the Maldives’ candidates recently during the Special Masterclass in Pastry event held by Bestbuy Maldives.
The three chefs returned to a heroes welcome when they landed back in the Maldives, they were greeted with specially commissioned banners, bouquets of flowers and reporters and TV crews wanting to interview them on their success.
